More and more companies are beginning to look into the multiple ways that they can go about creating wellness programs that will encourage better health and enrich the relationships of their workers.

Often when people think of 'employee wellness' programs, they think of a subsidized gym membership program so that the employees can get a discounted rate from any of the local gyms they have available.

However, it's vital to not limit yourself by this thinking. There are plenty of other ways that you can bring fitness into the workplace and by trying to target a few different methods, your results will be that much better.

Let's take a quick look at a few of the best ways that you can foster better health and fitness amongst your employees.

Have Employee Fit Challenges
One of the best ways to promote better employee wellness is to hold fit challenges in the workplace. For these challenges, you could create a scale of points that correspond to different tasks completed.

Five points may be doing five workouts during the week and ten points could correspond to losing 10 pounds of fat off their body.

Whatever the points system you create, whenever an employee reaches a certain points level, have a reward system in place. Perhaps it's an afternoon off from work or a (healthy) lunch out with the team.

This both encourages additional participation with any program you may currently have in place and builds stronger relationships with your employees.

Offer Lunch-Time Seminars
Another great way to bring fitness and health into the workplace is by turning to lunch-time seminars. Bring in a guest speaker to discuss various elements of wellness with your employees.

There are many personal trainers who will offer this service, either to be hired on an hourly basis or for free if they are getting promotion for their business.

The topics could range from nutrition to motivation to the proper way to workout.

You may even consider bringing in a trainer to hold a bootcamp session midday for those who wish to join if you happen to have a large enough space to hold it.

Think Outside The Box
Finally, the last way to bring employee wellness into the workplace is to think outside the box. Rather than going the traditional gym membership route like so many companies do, think about an alternate approach.

Perhaps you could get everyone out and go rock climbing for a Saturday afternoon or curling for an evening. The more variety you can incorporate into the wellness program the better as this is a key factor that will sway motivation to continue.

These are just a few tips to keep in mind to make the most of any employee wellness program and make it more inclusive than just a plain gym membership.
