Undefeated in 2012 and the newly crowned World No.1, is 22-year-old Victoria Azarenka the one to beat in the WTA this year?
22-year-old World No.1 Victoria Azarenka has been the WTA's talk of the town in 2012. Her undefeated streak this year has already seen the media comparing her year to that of Novak Djokovic's uncanny 2011 run.

But it's not been an easy run to success for Azarenka, who just last year, almost quit tennis entirely to focus on her studies instead. At the very same tournament that she's fresh off winning this time around, Victoria suffered two agonizing defeats, and figured she'd have a better life if she focused on her studies.
It was a long chat with her inspiring grandmother that changed her mind, and what an impact she's made since that day in Doha, 2011.
"Last year I was in a bit of a mess. I couldn't control any of my emotions. I had to change my mentality", said Azarenka in an interview before this year's event.
Well, to come from a place where she wanted to quit, to toppling Caroline Wozniacki as the World No.1 is a monumental achievement.
But will she be able to hang on to it? With the likes of Caroline Wozniacki, Petra Kvitova, Vera Zvonareva, Sam Stosur and company all snapping at her heels throughout the season, it's not going to be an easy run. The only thing that we know for sure in this is that it's going to be a cracker of a season in the WTA.
But what do you think are the chances of the dimple-faced assassin hanging on to the World No.1 ranking? Do sign in below and share with us your thoughts.
