Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan book their places in the final of the Men’s Singles Badminton tournament at the London 2012 Olympics.
After a series of dramatic matches for the Malaysian and the Chinese, Datuk Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan have both set up a repeat of the Beijing 2008 Olympics badminton final.
Chong Wei booked his place in the final first, after he beat China's Chen Long 21-13, 21-14. The Malaysian looked to have his form back in place after an injury scare that almost kept him out of the tournament, and never let Chen Long control any part of the match at any time.
Datuk Lee's attacks and defences looked spot on, and every bit of the champion quality that he is.
In the other semi-final match, Lin Dan too never let Il Lee Hyun anywhere near having too much of an advantage over him, and won the match 12-21, 10-21.
The semi-final results sets up a repeat of the Beijing 2008 Olympics final, which Lin Dan dominated and claimed victory, leaving Chong Wei with a bitter taste of silver in his mouth.
This time around, both players once again look to be on brilliant form heading into the final which takes place this Sunday (5th August, 2012).
Chong Wei will have a final shot at Olympic glory, a tournament that he's yet to claim gold on. This will also be the Malaysian hero's final involvement on the Olympic stage, as he looks to call it a day on his playing career very soon.
Malaysians around the world will have their eyes glued to the final in hopes of Datuk Lee Chong Wei claiming what could be Malaysia's first ever Olympic gold medal.
MSN Sports Malaysia would like to wish Datuk Lee Chong Wei all the best, and would like to share a special message with our hero:
"GET EM', CHONG WEI!"
