In his first competitive match since an ankle injury, Lee Chong Wei made a nervy start to his 2012 Olympic campaign after dropping a set to Finland's Ville Lang. He eventually won the match, 21-8 14-21 21-11.

Chong Wei, Malaysia's No.1 hope to end the country's dry-run of gold medals looked sharp early on, defeating Lang 21-8 in the first set, but the Finn seemed to pull himself back in the second set and won 14-21.

Taking the match to its full-length, Chong Wei was forced to face off a confident Lang in the third set, with his opponent's confidence growing. But Lee Chong Wei's form seemed to come back as well, as he finished off the Finn 21-11.

Chong Wei's road to gold at the 2012 London Olympics will be far from easy. Should he survive his scares, he's expected to face the likes of Simon Santoso, Chen Long and possibly even new World No.1 Lin Dan in the finals.

Turning attention to his archrival, Lin Dan cruised to a 21-8, 21-14 victory against Ireland's Scott Evans. 'Super Dan' will also face difficult Indonesian opposition in the form of Taufik Hidayat before making any progress into the quarterfinals.

Tonight is the night where LCW fight against LD. It seems kinda difficult to bring back the gold medal back to Malaysia, but I think LCW is really in good shape ready to fight against LD and bring back the gold medal and regain his no.1 title. Hopefully the Kechara wish fulfilling Chakras will bring luck to him and boost his chance of getting the gold medal.
