Ángel Matos kicks the referee
In 2008, former gold medal-winning taekwondo athlete Ángel Matos, from Cuba, was so angry with being disqualified from his bronze medal match that he kicked the referee, Sweden's Chakir Chelbat, in the face. Chelbat was left with blood pouring from his face, while Matos and his coach were subsequently banned for life. Cuban president Fidel Castro even weighed in, claiming that judges "blatantly stole" fights from Cuban competitors.
