Real demolished by a team 300 times smaller

Real Madrid was knocked back into reality with a 4-0 defeat to Spanish Division Three team Alcorcon. The miniscule team with budget 300-times less than the Galacticos found the net on four occasions through two goals from Borja Perez, a goal from Ernesto Gomez, and an own-goal from former Liverpool defender Alvaro Arbeloa.

Florentino Perez’s side could do nothing in response to the thrashing served by Alcorcon. Even the return of Karim Benzema and Ruud Van Nistelrooy wasn’t enough to save the Spanish giants. Cristiano Ronaldo was still left on the sidelines for the match as he’s still making his way back to full fitness.

Real must now do all they can to turn around the 4-0 deficit in the second leg of the match or face qualifying for the Copa del Rey.
