The Lee Valley White Water Centre is home to the canoe slalom events during the London 2012 Olympics. It was the first of the new venues to be completed and is also the only one that the public have been able to use ahead of the Games. Located approximately 32 kilometres north of the Olympic Park on the edge of the River Lee Country Park in Hertfordshire, a 300-metre competition course and a 160-metre training course have been built on the site. After the Games, the course will be used as a training venue for both the public and elite athletes, while the 12,000 seats will be taken down.
