Standing at 35-metres tall, the Basketball Arena is the fourth largest sporting facility in the Olympic Park and is also one of the largest temporary venues ever built for an Olympic Games - as the arena will be taken down after London 2012 has finished. The group stages and early knockout rounds of the men's and women's basketball tournaments will be hosted at the venue, before organisers transform the facility in the space of just 22 hours to be able to host the semi-finals and finals of the men's and women's handball competitions. The venue's administrative area is shared with the Velodrome and BMX Track for efficient use of the space and resources available.
