As the London 2012 Olympic Games begin with an embarrassing flag furore, we look back on some more of the strangest moments in Olympic history.
The London 2012 Olympics have got off to a spectacular start - with an embarassing mix-up before the opening ceremony's even taken place. The gaffe came in the women's football, which like the men's competiton starts before the Olympics are officially open in order to fit all the matches in. Before the start of the North Korean team's match against Colombia, the big screen at the stadium in Glasgow's Hampden Park showed pictures of the North Korean players... but with the flag of South Korea. Ooops. Given the somewhat troubled history between the two countries, it's hard to imagine a more awkward mistake to make. Angry protests by North Korean officials pointing out the mistake were followed by the entire North Korean team refusing to take to the field for an hour, before eventually the profuse apologies from the organisers - coupled with someone managing to find a picture the correct flag - persuaded them to play the match.
We're sure this won't be the only bizarre incident at the London 2012 Games - but while we wait for them to happen, here's a look back at fifteen of the weirdest and funniest moments from previous Olympics.
